![]() RELATED: I Really Hope Ryukishi07 Doesn't Mess Up Silent Hill FĮddie’s personal descent into madness, which results in him eventually attacking James to trigger one of the most pointless boss fights in gaming, also leaves a bit to be desired. Eddie just doesn’t click visually-he’s not particularly believable, and I’d go so far as to say he undermines the subdued aesthetic of the game. ![]() It reminds me of that time in American History X when in a flashback scene they shoved 30-something Edward Norton in a t-shirt and backwards cap and tried to pass him off as a 13-year-old ( who were they trying to fool?). Eddie’s a 23-year-old man who actually looks a fair bit older, but for some inexplicable reason dresses like a 10-year-old boy who wouldn’t look out of place in a lurid 90s candy commercial. Let’s talk about that physical presentation. It turns out to be a bad life choice, because he basically becomes the town’s serial killer, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake all while looking like Philip Seymour-Hoffman crammed into a child’s clothing. He’s a young man who’s suffered bullying at the hands of his peers and father throughout his short 23-year life, and arrives in Silent Hill to flee his tormentors. There is a solid ‘core’ to Eddie’s character. What do we do about you? How do we fit The perennial manchild of Silent Hill 2 offers up some of the strangest scenes, voicework, and characterisation in a game that otherwise manages to stay on the right side of the line between ‘uncanny valley’ and ‘Tommy Wiseau weirdness’. Silent Hill 2 is one such game, and while I’ve already gotten away with broaching the topic of the game’s design by suggesting that maybe its ‘locked door simulator’ stylings could use some kind of update, it’s time we talked about something that may be a bit more of a touchy subject.Įddy, Eddy Eddy. ![]() Suspicious of him from the start, Heather declines and slips into the nearby ladies' room to escape her follower, and there begins a long journey reconnecting Heather with her mysterious past, which is uncovered along the way. It’s always dicey talking about the remake of a game, especially when the original game is one of gaming’s great Sacred Cows-deemed to be such a paragon of horror that any attempts to alter it should be met with condemnation and pitchforks. Someone would like to speak to Heather about her birth and needs just half an hour of her time. He introduces himself as Douglas Cartland and explains that he's a detective. She calls her father to inform him she'll be home soon as man in a brown overcoat observes her.Īnnoyed by his presence, Heather says her goodbyes and frees up the phone, but the man wishes to speak with Heather instead. Heather awakens from a terrifying nightmare to find herself at a fast food restaurant called Happy Burger.
